Bank assets as a share of GDP reached 48.4 % in 2017 in Kazakhstan, according to the National Central Bank. This is 13.5 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, bank assets as a share of GDP in Kazakhstan reached an all time high of 90.9 % in 2007 and an all time low of 15.3 % in 1997. When compared to Kazakhstan's main peers, bank assets as a share of GDP in China amounted to 320 %, 41.0 % in Kyrgyzstan and 84.1 % in Russia in 2017.
