Bank cost to income ratio reached 95.3 % in 2008 in Japan, according to the National Central Bank. This is 50.7 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, bank cost to income ratio in Japan reached an all time high of 134 % in 2002 and an all time low of 49.7 % in 2005. When compared to Japan's main peers, bank cost to income ratio in Russia amounted to 66.8 %, 60.2 % in South Korea and 72.1 % in USA in 2008.
