Bentonite production reached 420 kt in 2015 in Japan, according to the National Statistical Office. This is the same as in the previous year.
Historically, bentonite production in Japan reached an all time high of 554 kt in 1991 and an all time low of 400 kt in 1976. When compared to Japan's main peers, bentonite production in China amounted to 3,500 kt, 460 kt in Russia, 166 kt in South Korea and 6,290 kt in USA in 2015.
