Historically, cattle meat production in Portugal reached an all time high of 133 kt in 1991 and an all time low of 45.6 kt in 1964. When compared to Portugal's main peers, cattle meat production in France amounted to 1,458 kt, 588 kt in Ireland, 258 kt in Morocco and 635 kt in Spain in 2016.
