Cocoa bean production reached 650 tonnes in 2016 in Costa Rica, according to Faostat. This is 8.33 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, cocoa bean production in Costa Rica reached an all time high of 12,600 tonnes in 1962 and an all time low of 343 tonnes in 2005. When compared to Costa Rica's main peers, cocoa bean production in Guatemala amounted to 11,567 tonnes, 802 tonnes in Honduras, 5,185 tonnes in Nicaragua and 532 tonnes in Panama in 2016.
