Current account balance as a share of GDP reached -8.90 % in 2019 in Uganda, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 28.9 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, current account balance as a share of GDP in Uganda reached an all time high of 0.029 % in 1984 and an all time low of -8.90 % in 2019. When compared to Uganda's main peers, current account balance as a share of GDP in Kenya amounted to -5.26 %, -9.43 % in Rwanda, 2.68 % in South Sudan and -1.78 % in Dem. Republic of the Congo in 2019.
Uganda has been ranked 148th within the group of 172 countries we follow in terms of current account balance as a share of GDP, 37 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
The current account is one of the two primary components of the balance of payments, the other being the capital account.
