Gross savings as a share of GDP reached 25.5 % in 2019 in Hungary, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 0.524 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, gross savings as a share of GDP in Hungary reached an all time high of 27.8 % in 1981 and an all time low of 0.130 % in 1993. When compared to Hungary's main peers, gross savings as a share of GDP in Austria amounted to 27.7 %, 25.7 % in Czech Republic, 20.8 % in Poland and 22.4 % in Slovakia in 2019.
Hungary has been ranked 56th within the group of 163 countries we follow in terms of gross savings as a share of GDP, 41 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Gross savings are calculated as gross national income less total consumption, plus net transfers.
