Gross savings as a share of GDP reached 12.4 % in 2019 in Montenegro, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 8.04 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, gross savings as a share of GDP in Montenegro reached an all time high of 13.5 % in 2018 and an all time low of -0.083 % in 2008. When compared to Montenegro's main peers, gross savings as a share of GDP in Albania amounted to 15.1 %, 12.4 % in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 22.8 % in Croatia and 16.0 % in Serbia in 2019.
Montenegro has been ranked 140th within the group of 163 countries we follow in terms of gross savings as a share of GDP, 25 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Gross savings are calculated as gross national income less total consumption, plus net transfers.
