Interest rate on bank loans reached 4.20 % in 2016 in Spain, according to the National Central Bank. This is 6.62 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, interest rate on bank loans in Spain reached an all time high of 16.9 % in 1980 and an all time low of 3.88 % in 2003. When compared to Spain's main peers, interest rate on bank loans in France amounted to 5.51 %, 3.50 % in Italy and 5.99 % in Portugal in 2016.
Spain has been ranked 124th within the group of 135 countries we follow in terms of interest rate on bank loans, 34 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
