Expenditure of international tourism reached 2,487 USD mil in 2018 in Sri Lanka, according to Eurostat. This is 3.24 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, expenditure of international tourism in Sri Lanka reached an all time high of 2,487 USD mil in 2018 and an all time low of 267 USD mil in 1996. When compared to Sri Lanka's main peers, expenditure of international tourism in India amounted to 25,790 USD mil, 13,248 USD mil in Malaysia, 433 USD mil in Maldives and 118 USD mil in Myanmar in 2018.
Sri Lanka has been ranked 65th within the group of 150 countries we follow in terms of expenditure of international tourism, 17 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
International tourism expenditure is the expenditure of international outbound visitors in other countries, including payments to foreign carriers for international transport.
