Expenditure of international tourism reached 850 USD mil in 2011 in Syria, according to Eurostat. This is 46.8 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, expenditure of international tourism in Syria reached an all time high of 1,598 USD mil in 2010 and an all time low of 498 USD mil in 1995. When compared to Syria's main peers, expenditure of international tourism in Iraq amounted to 1,879 USD mil, 1,280 USD mil in Jordan, 4,440 USD mil in Lebanon and 5,372 USD mil in Turkey in 2011.
Syria has been ranked 83rd within the group of 165 countries we follow in terms of expenditure of international tourism, 24 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
