Number of international tourist arrivals reached 2.23 mil in 2017 in Iceland, according to Eurostat. This is 24.2 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, number of international tourist arrivals in Iceland reached an all time high of 2.23 mil in 2017 and an all time low of 0.190 mil in 1995. When compared to Iceland's main peers, number of international tourist arrivals in Denmark amounted to 11.7 mil, 6.25 mil in Norway, 7.05 mil in Sweden and 37.7 mil in United Kingdom in 2017.
Iceland has been ranked 84th within the group of 149 countries we follow in terms of number of international tourist arrivals, 36 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
The number of international tourists who travel to a country other than that in which they have their usual residence, but outside their usual environment, for a period not exceeding 12 months and whose main purpose in visiting is other than an activity remunerated from within the country visited.
