Historically, number of international tourist arrivals in Italy reached an all time high of 58.3 mil in 2017 and an all time low of 31.1 mil in 1995. When compared to Italy's main peers, number of international tourist arrivals in Austria amounted to 29.5 mil, 86.9 mil in France, 3.59 mil in Slovenia and 9.89 mil in Switzerland in 2017.
