Number of international tourist arrivals reached 13.3 mil in 2017 in South Korea, according to Eurostat. This is 22.7 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, number of international tourist arrivals in South Korea reached an all time high of 17.2 mil in 2016 and an all time low of 3.68 mil in 1996. When compared to South Korea's main peers, number of international tourist arrivals in China amounted to 60.7 mil, 28.7 mil in Japan and 12.9 mil in Vietnam in 2017.
South Korea has been ranked 30th within the group of 149 countries we follow in terms of number of international tourist arrivals, 9 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
The number of international tourists who travel to a country other than that in which they have their usual residence, but outside their usual environment, for a period not exceeding 12 months and whose main purpose in visiting is other than an activity remunerated from within the country visited.
