Number of international tourist arrivals reached 5.07 mil in 2011 in Syria, according to Eurostat. This is 40.7 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, number of international tourist arrivals in Syria reached an all time high of 8.55 mil in 2010 and an all time low of 0.815 mil in 1995. When compared to Syria's main peers, number of international tourist arrivals in Iraq amounted to 1.51 mil, 3.96 mil in Jordan, 1.66 mil in Lebanon and 34.7 mil in Turkey in 2011.
