Lignite coal production reached 654 kt in 2008 in Vietnam, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 6.32 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, lignite coal production in Vietnam reached an all time high of 698 kt in 2007 and an all time low of 355 kt in 2005. When compared to Vietnam's main peers, lignite coal production in China amounted to 120,265 kt, 418 kt in Laos and 20,157 kt in Thailand in 2008.
