Net foreign assets reached -152 EUR bil in 2017 in Spain, according to the National Central Bank. This is 25.3 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, net foreign assets in Spain reached an all time high of 62.0 EUR bil in 1993 and an all time low of -192 EUR bil in 2011. When compared to Spain's main peers, net foreign assets in France amounted to 407 EUR bil, -179 EUR bil in Italy, 262 MAD bil in Morocco and -26.3 EUR bil in Portugal in 2017.
Spain has been ranked 140th within the group of 145 countries we follow in terms of net foreign assets, 38 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
