Based on a comparison of 14 countries in 2016, Italy ranked the highest in official production of PGI wine with 15,423 1,000 hl followed by France and Spain. On the other end of the scale was Belgium with 0.900 1,000 hl, Slovakia with 2.16 1,000 hl and United Kingdom with 7.00 1,000 hl.
