Patent applications of non-residents reached 117 in 2017 in Poland, according to World Bank. This is 13.3 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, patent applications of non-residents in Poland reached an all time high of 5,359 in 2004 and an all time low of 117 in 2017. When compared to Poland's main peers, patent applications of non-residents in Czech Republic amounted to 66.0, 19,927 in Germany, 14,106 in Russia and 1,764 in Ukraine in 2017.
Poland has been ranked 72nd within the group of 113 countries we follow in terms of patent applications of non-residents, 26 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
Patent applications are worldwide patent applications filed through the Patent Cooperation Treaty procedure or with a national patent office for exclusive rights for an invention, a product or a process that provides a new way of doing something or offers a new technical solution to a problem.
