Production of dates reached 173,546 tonnes in 2016 in Libya, according to Faostat. This is 1.06 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, production of dates in Libya reached an all time high of 200,000 tonnes in 2002 and an all time low of 29,100 tonnes in 1961. When compared to Libya's main peers, production of dates in Algeria amounted to 1,029,596 tonnes, 19,989 tonnes in Chad, 1,694,813 tonnes in Egypt and 241,000 tonnes in Tunisia in 2016.
