Historically, proved reserves of natural gas in Russia reached an all time high of 1,700 trillion cb ft in 1997 and an all time low of 1,680 trillion cb ft in 2002. When compared to Russia's main peers, proved reserves of natural gas in China amounted to 183 trillion cb ft, 1.48 trillion cb ft in Germany and 0.738 trillion cb ft in Japan in 2017.
