Public Debt (Local Currency) in Sri Lanka

Public debt reached SKR 23,369 bil in 2025 in Sri Lanka, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 9.23% more than in the previous year.

Historically, public debt in Sri Lanka reached an all time high of SKR 31,121 bil in 2022 and an all time low of SKR 311 bil in 1990.

Sri Lanka has been ranked 35th within the group of 166 countries we follow in terms of public debt.
