Historically, raw silk production in European Union reached an all time high of 2,137 tonnes in 2005 and an all time low of 146 tonnes in 2002. When compared to European Union's main peers, raw silk production in China amounted to 126,000 tonnes and 250 tonnes in Japan in 2014.
