Historically, rice consumption per capita in Nigeria reached an all time high of 47.3 kg in 2016 and an all time low of 1.61 kg in 1961. When compared to Nigeria's main peers, rice consumption per capita in Benin amounted to 74.8 kg, 36.4 kg in Cameroon, 16.8 kg in Chad and 25.6 kg in Niger in 2017.
