Sales of passenger cars reached 431 thousand in 2020 in Belgium, according to ACEA. This is 21.5 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, sales of passenger cars in Belgium reached an all time high of 572 thousand in 2011 and an all time low of 128 thousand in 1960. When compared to Belgium's main peers, sales of passenger cars in France amounted to 1,650 thousand, 2,918 thousand in Germany, 45.2 thousand in Luxembourg and 358 thousand in Netherlands in 2020.
Belgium has been ranked 7th within the group of 31 countries we follow in terms of sales of passenger cars, 11 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Passenger cars refer to road motor vehicles, other than two-wheelers, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine people (including the driver).
