Sales of passenger cars reached 158 thousand in 2019 in Hungary, according to ACEA. This is 15.6 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, sales of passenger cars in Hungary reached an all time high of 239 thousand in 2002 and an all time low of 43.5 thousand in 2010. When compared to Hungary's main peers, sales of passenger cars in Austria amounted to 329 thousand, 250 thousand in Czech Republic, 556 thousand in Poland and 102 thousand in Slovakia in 2019.
Hungary has been ranked 43rd within the group of 140 countries we follow in terms of sales of passenger cars, 14 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Passenger cars refer to road motor vehicles, other than two-wheelers, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine people (including the driver).
