Sales of passenger cars reached 18.2 thousand in 2019 in Latvia, according to ACEA. This is 8.04 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, sales of passenger cars in Latvia reached an all time high of 71.5 thousand in 1997 and an all time low of 5.37 thousand in 2009. When compared to Latvia's main peers, sales of passenger cars in Belarus amounted to 56.6 thousand, 26.6 thousand in Estonia, 46.5 thousand in Lithuania and 1,568 thousand in Russia in 2019.
Latvia has been ranked 81st within the group of 140 countries we follow in terms of sales of passenger cars, 19 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Passenger cars refer to road motor vehicles, other than two-wheelers, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine people (including the driver).
