Sales of passenger cars reached 126 thousand in 2020 in Romania, according to ACEA. This is 21.8 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, sales of passenger cars in Romania reached an all time high of 316 thousand in 2007 and an all time low of 57.7 thousand in 2013. When compared to Romania's main peers, sales of passenger cars in Bulgaria amounted to 22.4 thousand and 128 thousand in Hungary in 2020.
Romania has been ranked 18th within the group of 31 countries we follow in terms of sales of passenger cars, 29 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Passenger cars refer to road motor vehicles, other than two-wheelers, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine people (including the driver).
