Small cars as a share of new cars sold reached 49.7 % in 2016 in Denmark, according to ACEA. This is 8.38 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, small cars as a share of new cars sold in Denmark reached an all time high of 60.5 % in 2012 and an all time low of 35.6 % in 2006. When compared to Denmark's main peers, small cars as a share of new cars sold in Germany amounted to 28.5 %, 49.1 % in Netherlands, 21.1 % in Norway and 18.2 % in Sweden in 2016.
Denmark has been ranked 4th within the group of 19 countries we follow in terms of small cars as a share of new cars sold, 2 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Small cars have become the most popular segment in Europe over the last two decades.
