Small cars as a share of new cars sold reached 35.7 % in 2016 in Iceland, according to ACEA. This is 6.51 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, small cars as a share of new cars sold in Iceland reached an all time high of 35.7 % in 2016 and an all time low of 19.5 % in 2006. When compared to Iceland's main peers, small cars as a share of new cars sold in Denmark amounted to 49.7 %, 21.1 % in Norway, 18.2 % in Sweden and 39.5 % in United Kingdom in 2016.
Iceland has been ranked 11th within the group of 19 countries we follow in terms of small cars as a share of new cars sold, 5 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Small cars have become the most popular segment in Europe over the last two decades.
