Sugar cane production reached 701 kt in 2014 in Sri Lanka, according to Faostat. This is 27 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, sugar cane production in Sri Lanka reached an all time high of 1,529 kt in 1994 and an all time low of 112 kt in 1962. When compared to Sri Lanka's main peers, sugar cane production in India amounted to 351,710 kt, 810 kt in Malaysia and 9,695 kt in Myanmar in 2014.
