Historically, sugar cane production in Tanzania reached an all time high of 3,021 kt in 2011 and an all time low of 387 kt in 1961. When compared to Tanzania's main peers, sugar cane production in Kenya amounted to 5,581 kt, 3,395 kt in Mozambique, 3,275 kt in Uganda and 3,700 kt in Zambia in 2014.
