Historically, vegetable consumption per capita in Afghanistan reached an all time high of 43.7 kg in 1971 and an all time low of 26.3 kg in 2004. When compared to Afghanistan's main peers, vegetable consumption per capita in Iran amounted to 233 kg, 28.9 kg in Pakistan, 149 kg in Tajikistan and 155 kg in Turkmenistan in 2013.
