The report describes the key trends in the Bulgarian telecommunication and high-technology sector. Most of the key statistics are presented in comparison with other CEE countries and more developed economies.
First, we describe mobile and fixed-line telephony, such as the level of penetration of mobile and fixed lines, in absolute terms, as a share of total population, or the number of households, or compared to the country’s CEE peers or the more developed economies. We also present details about how expensive it is for Bulgarians to call in comparison with other EU countries.
Second, you can find interesting data about the use of the internet, such as the number of broadband internet connections, the share of the population using the internet, or the number of personal computers used by the population.
Last, the report presents details regarding hi-tech through comparison with hi-tech products as a proportion of total exports, the number of research technicians, articles published, or, for example, research expenditure in relation to total GDP.
