Deposits of Czech banks increased 3.1% qoq to CZK 6,832 bil during the second quarter of 2023, or by 7.8% when compared to last year. They reached almost 91% of GDP, up from 78% seen a decade ago.

Households deposits grew 1.9% qoq and 5.7% yoy in the last 12 months and represented more than half of total customer deposits at the end of June 2023. Corporate deposits increased by 2.5% qoq (or 13.7% yoy) and made up 22% of total while the remaining 27% comprised other deposits (to financial and public institutions).

Max banka appears to have grown the fastest in deposits in relative terms last quarter, followed by CSOB and Banka Creditas

In absolute terms, when compared to the previous quarter, however, most new deposits went to CSOB, Ceska Sporitelna and Raiffeisen Czech Republic.

The three largest banks held 58.2% of customer deposits at the end of second quarter of 2023. Overall, CSOB remains the largest deposit collector with a 21.3% market share followed by Ceska Sporitelna (20.9%) and Komercni banka (16.0%) on our calculation:
