Based on a comparison of 21 banks in Czechia in 3Q2016, Hypotecni Banka was the best capitalised bank, followed by Max banka and CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna.
Hypotecni Banka's capital adequacy ratio reached 34.2%, down from 34.6% when compared to the previous quarter and up from 33.0% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 56.4% in 2Q2008 and an all time low of 8.16% in 4Q2002.
When compared to the nearest peers, Max banka ended the year 3Q2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 25.4%, CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna with 19.8% and Ceska Sporitelna some 19.4% at the end of 3Q2016.
The average capital adequacy reached 17.7% in the Czech banking sector in 3Q2016.
