Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 1Q2016, mBank was the best capitalised bank, followed by Pekao and Bank Handlowy.

mBank's capital adequacy ratio reached 19.0%, up from 17.3% when compared to the previous quarter and up from 16.3% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 19.4% in 4Q2013 and an all time low of 7.62% in 1Q2004.

When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao ended the year 1Q2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 18.5%, Bank Handlowy with 17.5% and Bank Millennium some 17.2% at the end of 1Q2016.

The average capital adequacy reached 18.1% in the Polish banking sector in 1Q2016.
