What Banks in Poland Were the Best Capitalised in 4Q2016?

Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 4Q2016, mBank was the best capitalised bank, followed by Pekao and Bank Handlowy.

mBank's capital adequacy ratio reached 20.3%, up from 18.6% when compared to the previous quarter and up from 17.3% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 20.3% in 4Q2016 and an all time low of 7.62% in 1Q2004.

When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao ended the year 4Q2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 17.6%, Bank Handlowy with 17.4% and Bank Millennium some 17.4% at the end of 4Q2016.

The average capital adequacy reached 18.4% in the Polish banking sector in 4Q2016.
