Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2016, PKO BP was the largest bank by assets, followed by Pekao and Santander Bank Polska.

PKO BP assets reached PLN 285,573 mil, up 6.98% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of PLN 285,573 mil in 2016 and an all time low of PLN 82,240 mil in 2002.

Comparing PKO BP with its closest peers, Pekao assets amounted to PLN 174,215 mil, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 150,100 mil assets and mBank had total assets of PLN 133,744 mil.

Total assets of the Polish banking sector amounted to CZK 5,960 bil in 2016, up 9.00% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 4.79% of the sector’s assets in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 10.2% share while the five largest firms some 14.4% in 2016.
