Based on a comparison of 22 banks in Turkey in 2017, Intesa Sanpaolo Turkey was the best capitalised bank, followed by Odea Bank and ING Bank Turkey.
Intesa Sanpaolo Turkey's capital adequacy ratio reached 23.8%, up from 15.1% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 87.1% in 2014 and an all time low of 15.1% in 2016.
Comparing Intesa Sanpaolo Turkey with its closest peers, Odea Bank ended the year 2017 with a capital adequacy ratio at 20.3%, ING Bank Turkey with 19.9% and Burgan Bank some 19.6% at the end of 2017.
The average capital adequacy reached 16.8% in the Turkish banking sector in 2017.
