India consumes the most spice with total of 4.8 Mt in 2020 followed by Nigeria and Bangladesh. Total spice consumption reached 12.27 Mt in 2020 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.31% more than in the previous year and 32.6% more than 10 years ago. The average annual growth amounted to 3.51 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, India, accounted for 39.2 % of spice consumption in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 49.9 % share while the ten largest countries some 73.9 % in 2020.
In terms of per person consumption, Guyana ranked the highest with 18.8 kg followed by Bhutan and Benin. On the other end, spice of not least used in Angola, Venezuela or Dem. People's Republic of Korea.
