Based on a comparison of 66 countries in 2015, China ranked the highest in primary coal production with 4,376,984 kt followed by USA and India. On the other end of the scale was Albania with 0.100 kt, Nepal with 17.0 kt and Italy with 80.0 kt.

Total primary coal production reached 8,764,412 kt in 2015 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 1.64 % less than in the previous year and 24.3 % more than 10 years ago.
