Total primary coal production reached 8,764,412 kt in 2015 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 1.64 % less than in the previous year and 24.3 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total primary coal production reached an all time high of 9,035,380 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 4,179,633 kt in 1980. The average annual growth amounted to 2.14 % since 1980.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 49.9 % of primary coal production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 67.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 91.8 % in 2015.
