Based on a comparison of 49 countries in 2014, Ivory Coast ranked the highest in cocoa bean production with 1,434,077 tonnes followed by Ghana and Indonesia. On the other end of the scale was Suriname with 6.00 tonnes, Fiji with 20.0 tonnes and Comoros with 42.0 tonnes.
Total cocoa bean production reached 4,636,510 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.1 % more than in the previous year and 12.2 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total cocoa bean production reached an all time high of 4,645,681 tonnes in 2012 and an all time low of 1,186,364 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.61 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Ivory Coast, accounted for 30.9 % of cocoa bean production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 65.2 % share while the ten largest countries some 89.9 % in 2014.
