Based on a comparison of 172 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in egg production with 28,993 kt followed by USA and India. On the other end of the scale was Cayman Islands with 0.005 kt, Bhutan with 0.297 kt and Hong Kong with 0.305 kt.
Total egg production reached 71,282 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.61 % less than in the previous year and 15.8 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total egg production reached an all time high of 73,855 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 15,110 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.97 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 40.7 % of egg production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 54.6 % share while the ten largest countries some 74.1 % in 2014.
