Based on a comparison of 23 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in kiwi fruit production with 1,840,000 tonnes followed by Italy and New Zealand. On the other end of the scale was Canada with 30.0 tonnes, Tunisia with 32.0 tonnes and Cyprus with 100 tonnes.
Total kiwi fruit production reached 2,828,973 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 15.3 % less than in the previous year and 20.4 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total kiwi fruit production reached an all time high of 3,261,474 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 2,000 tonnes in 1970. The average annual growth amounted to 17.9 % since 1970.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 65.0 % of kiwi fruit production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 97.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 120 % in 2014.
