Based on a comparison of 56 countries in 2014, Indonesia ranked the highest in leek production with 584,631 tonnes followed by Turkey and Belgium. On the other end of the scale was Cyprus with 18.0 tonnes, Slovakia with 23.0 tonnes and Luxembourg with 38.0 tonnes.
Total leek production reached 2,145,070 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.09 % more than in the previous year and 13.3 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total leek production reached an all time high of 2,178,048 tonnes in 2012 and an all time low of 687,049 tonnes in 1976. The average annual growth amounted to 2.06 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Indonesia, accounted for 27.3 % of leek production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 46.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 85.8 % in 2014.
