Based on a comparison of 170 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in sheep and goat meat production with 4,282 kt followed by Australia and India. On the other end of the scale was Suriname with 0.018 kt, Seychelles with 0.022 kt and Belize with 0.029 kt.
Total sheep and goat meat production reached 13,400 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 4.19 % less than in the previous year and 8.83 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total sheep and goat meat production reached an all time high of 14,764 kt in 2010 and an all time low of 6,032 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.52 % since 1961.
