Based on a comparison of 89 countries in 2014, Brazil ranked the highest in sugar cane production with 727,542 kt followed by India and China. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with 0.052 kt, Spain with 0.100 kt and Oman with 1.18 kt.
Total sugar cane production reached 1,825,112 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.85 % less than in the previous year and 26.4 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total sugar cane production reached an all time high of 1,877,105 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 436,873 kt in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 2.69 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Brazil, accounted for 39.9 % of sugar cane production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 65.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 83.4 % in 2014.
