Based on a comparison of 99 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in sweet potato production with 71,305 kt followed by Nigeria and Tanzania. On the other end of the scale was Singapore with 0.001 kt, Cayman Islands with 0.004 kt and Bahrain with 0.005 kt.
Total sweet potato production reached 106,588 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.9 % less than in the previous year and -22.8 % less than 10 years ago.
Historically, total sweet potato production reached an all time high of 152,865 kt in 1973 and an all time low of 93,377 kt in 1964. The average annual growth amounted to 0.155 % since 1961.
