Based on a comparison of 53 countries in 2014, Russia ranked the highest in sugar beet production with 46,350 kt followed by France and USA. On the other end of the scale was Mexico with 0.735 kt, Lebanon with 2.14 kt and Ecuador with 4.20 kt.
Total sugar beet production reached 273,960 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 8.68 % more than in the previous year and 8.17 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total sugar beet production reached an all time high of 314,403 kt in 1989 and an all time low of 149,173 kt in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 1.01 % since 1961.
